Sophie Wedgwood is a photographer from Camberwell, London, working across portraiture and long-form documentary. She is the recipient of the Magnum Photography Award for Emerging Photographer, selected by Lua Ribeira.

​

She began her career as a reportage photographer with BBC News, commissioned by Phil Coomes to travel across the UK documenting and writing about her experiences. Her early work — most notably the series Growing Up Young, an intimate study of young women navigating contemporary Britain — received critical acclaim and established her as a distinctive voice in contemporary photography.

​

Her work has been selected for World Press Photo (Joop Swart Masterclass), The Webby Awards (Best Photography), the Magnum Awards (Graduate Award and Emerging Photographer), the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery, Vogue Photo Festival and Review, Leica Lab, Creative Review (Best Photography), the Lucie Awards, the Julia Margaret Cameron Award, PhotoVogue Review, the Venice Biennale, and the LCN Development Grant, among others.
